Day of Mourning

Today, much of the United States celebrates the holiday known as Thanksgiving. We Indigenous peoples use this day to honor and recall the generations before us. The generations of women, men, elders, and children that were slaughtered, abused, or otherwise oppressed for participating in their traditional lifestyles.

We as Indigenous peoples have the ability to be who our forbearers could not. We can participate in our cultures, our languages, and our lifestyles. We must fight, in all ways, to defend what our ancestors lost their lives to defend. Please, have a reflective Day of Mourning.

Stay safe and healthy.
